The grapes for this wine were grown on a slope rising up from the Goulburn River in the Upper Hunter Valley. The high percentage of clay in these soils makes the vines work harder for their water and nutrients resulting in reduced berry size and concentrated flavors in the fruit. The grapes were harvested at optimum maturity and the wine matured for 9 months in French Oak prior to bottling. The result is a wine with a delicate balance of fruit flavor and subtle oak complexity.
